The Energy of Money: A Mindset for Financial Freedom

Money is more than just paper, numbers, or a balance in your bank account. It is energy—a reflection of our beliefs, actions, and the mindset we carry around wealth. In a recent Power Collective session, we explored the deep connection between money, belief systems, and personal growth, uncovering strategies to break free from limiting financial patterns and move toward abundance.

Money as Energy and Flow

Money flows in and out of our lives—just like energy. It moves based on attention, belief, and intention. It requires effort to receive and intention to manage. Some of us feel like money slips through our fingers, while others experience a steady flow. The key difference? Mindset. Just like any form of energy, money responds to the beliefs we hold about it. If we believe money is scarce and difficult to obtain, that belief becomes our reality. But if we see money as an abundant resource that we can attract and direct, our financial situation can shift dramatically. When you're struggling to make ends meet, talking about money as 'energy' can feel frustrating or out of touch. I’ve been there—and that’s exactly why I share this truth: your mindset is the starting point for climbing out and claiming abundance. Here are a few things to consider as you ascend your money mindset and set forth on your journey to abundance.

Money as a Tool, Not the Goal

A common misconception is that money itself brings happiness. In reality, money is simply a tool—like a hammer, it helps build the life we envision. When we stop chasing money for its own sake and start using it intentionally, we gain control over our financial energy. The key is clarity: What do you truly want? What is the ultimate goal that money can help you achieve? Whether it's freedom, security, or peace of mind, getting clear on what money represents to you can ease anxiety and create a healthier, more empowered relationship with wealth. A secret here is to ensure your desire for money is internally driven and not eternally driven. Many people desire money for what others will think of them or the item they purchase. If this is you, your work is to transition past this mindset as quickly as possible! That is fool's gold and only leads to the trap!

The Power of Beliefs and Financial Growth

Our thoughts shape our financial reality. If you believe you are meant to struggle financially, you will subconsciously act in ways that reinforce that struggle. But if you shift your belief system to one of financial ease and possibility, you will start recognizing and creating opportunities to grow your wealth. To dig deeper here and find your own proof, research the reticular activation system! This is why trust fund babies often have a different mindset around money—they grow up with the belief that financial success is inevitable.

You see, the truth is, you don’t attract what you want. You attract what you believe!

You are probably thinking all that's great but how do I get there? And... where do I start? Well, keep reading!

Key Strategies for Achieving Financial Freedom

To start moving the needle do this:

  • Automate Savings and Investments: Remove human error and emotional spending by setting up automatic financial habits. For more details, read "I will teach you to be rich," by Ramit Sethi.

  • Circulate Money with Purpose: Giving away money, even in small amounts, reinforces abundance and trust in financial flow.

  • Create Money Boundaries: I only lend what I’m completely willing to lose—no stress, no resentment. Anything beyond that is a clear, confident no. This boundary protects my peace and keeps my financial energy aligned and strong.

  • Leverage Daily Affirmations: Reprogram your mind by repeating positive financial affirmations every day. This may sound a little woo woo, but it works!

  • Commit to Learning: Make it your mission to become a lifelong student of money. Curiosity and consistency will take you further than any quick tip or trend ever could.

To turbo charge your journey incorporate these 3 innovative and highly effective mindset-based strategies to deepen your path to financial freedom:

  • Visualize Abundance with Emotional Precision: Don’t just see yourself with money—feel it. Visualize yourself already living in abundance, anchoring the emotional experience to train your subconscious mind to align with wealth.

  • Practice Identity Shifting: Instead of thinking, “I want to be wealthy,” begin identifying as someone who already is. Start with small behaviors and decisions that reflect the habits of your financially free future self.

  • Audit and Upgrade Your Circle: Your money mindset is contagious. Surround yourself with people who think expansively about wealth and abundance. Conversations, energy, and mindset will either elevate or limit you—choose wisely.

Next Steps: Applying the Energy of Money in Your Life

To put these ideas into action, consider these challenges:

  1. List Your 3 Earliest Memories About Money: This helps uncover subconscious beliefs that may be shaping your financial reality.

  2. Identify 5 Limiting Beliefs You Have About Money: Awareness is the first step to change.

  3. Give Away $20 and Observe How It Feels: Whether it’s a single $20 bill or four $5s, pay attention to what you feel as you give. Any excitement, resistance, or emotion that surfaces offers powerful insight into your money mindset.

  4. Strategize One Big Money Move for This Year: Set an ambitious financial goal and outline a plan to make it happen. You just may be surprised at how soon you achieve this with a little focus and execution!

At the End of the Day, Your Relationship with Money is in Your Hands

Money is not something to fear, hoard, or chase. It is a resource, an energy that we can align with through intention, belief, and action. By reshaping how we think about money, we open ourselves up to financial freedom and abundance. The choice is yours—will you let outdated beliefs control your wealth, or will you step into the energy of financial empowerment?

Take control. Take action. Watch your money mindset transform—and welcome abundance with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
