Find Your Fire: The Power of Ikigai š„

Thereās a concept that changed how I view purposeāand how I help others align with theirs. Itās called IkigaiĀ (ēćē²ę), a Japanese word that roughly translates to āa reason for being.ā But itās deeper than just purpose. Itās the quiet intersection where your passion, skill, contribution, and livelihood meet.
The concept comes from Okinawa, Japanāone of the worldās "Blue Zones" where people live the longest, healthiest lives. Researchers found that the Okinawan elders didn't just have clean diets or good genesāthey had Ikigai. They woke up with clarity and intention. You see, they had something to live for! Something they believed in! Something to give!
Thatās the power of Ikigai. And in a world where burnout is common and more than half of working adults are actively seeking new jobs, it's also one of the most urgently necessaryĀ tools we can use for personal alignment and professional fulfillment.
But hereās the truth most people donāt want to admit: Many never find it. Dare I sayā¦MOST never find it? They stay stuck in roles, routines, and relationships that no longer serve themātrapped by titles, comfort zones, and the fear of starting over.
So, if youāve ever asked yourself, āIs this it?ā If youāve ever felt like youāre made for moreā¦Letās talk about how to find your fire...keep reading!
šĀ What Exactly Is Ikigai?
At its core, Ikigai is your personal compass. It guides you to the unique space where:
What you love
What you're good at
What the world needs
And what you can be paid for
ā¦all overlap.
When these four forces converge, something powerful happens. You stop chasing successāand start aligning with fulfillment.
You donāt just work harder, you work truer. You donāt just do more, you do what matters most.
š§Ā Why Finding Your Ikigai Is More Important Than Ever
Iāve worked with enough leaders, entrepreneurs, and high achievers to know that success without fulfillment is a silent crisis.
Theyāve reached the summitātitles, income, influenceāand still feel somethingās missing.
And that āmissingā is often Ikigai. Because without it, even the best opportunities feel like obligations. With it? Even ordinary moments feel electric.
Ikigai is what turns a job into a calling. A business into a legacy. A goal into a movement.
If you're waking up tired, second-guessing your path, or wondering why you're not more excited about your lifeāeven though it "looks good on paper" or you feel like you are āsupposed to be happyāāyou donāt need a new plan. You need a new alignment.
š”Ā How to Start Finding Your Ikigai
This isnāt a quick fix but itās also not that complicatedāitās a discovery process.Ā And if youāre willing to do the work, the reward is a life that finally fits. Itās literally Life Changing!
Hereās how we broke it down inside our latest Power Collective session:
1. Create Four Lists
Set aside time to reflect on these questions:
What do I love?
What makes time disappear when Iām doing it?
What am I good at?
What do others naturally come to me for?
What can I be paid for?
What skills, knowledge, or experience have value in the marketplace?
What does the world need?
What change do I want to help create?
Donāt aim for perfectionāaim for volume.Ā Get 10-20 items per list. Let it pour out.
2. Look for Overlap and Patterns
Once your lists are built, look for intersections. Where do you notice repetition or natural flow between categories?
Sometimes, your next move isnāt something newāitās been sitting quietly in the middle of everything you already know.
3. Test It Through Action
Reflection is only half the game. Ikigai comes alive through experimentation.
Volunteer.
Freelance or Side Hustle.
Start a project.
Mentor someone.
Speak out.
Build something.
Give yourself permission to test your purpose in the real world, not just inside your journal.
4. Track What Fuels You
Over the course of a week, journal:
What gave me energy today?
What drained me?
What felt aligned?
What felt forced?
As I remind my clients: Energy is a GPS. If something lights you up, follow it.
šĀ BONUS: Write Your Personal Purpose Statement
Once you begin to see the threads of your Ikigai, try putting it into words.
Use this formula to start:
āI help [people/group] by [what you're good at] so they can [impact or outcome].ā
Hereās mine: I help high-achieving professionals unlock their mindset and clarify their purpose so they can create a life and career that feels truly aligned and fulfilling.
Write it, read it aloud, and refine it. This statement becomes your north star.
ā ļøĀ The Real Cost of Not Finding Your Ikigai
Letās get real.
Every day spent misaligned is a day spent building someone elseās dream. Every month spent on autopilot is a silent sacrifice of your potential.
And if youāve been playing small, delaying change, or doubting your own fireā¦Ask yourself: āWhat will it cost me to stay the same for another year?ā
āØĀ You Deserve More Than a Career. You Deserve a Calling.
Ikigai isnāt a luxury. Itās not reserved for monks, artists, or philosophers. Itās for you. Right now. Thatās right! In the middle of your busy life.
And the only thing standing between you and that clarityā¦Is courage + action.
So, if youāre ready to find your fireāstart small, start messy, start afraidā¦But for goodness sakeā¦start now!
Because once you taste the alignment of purpose and powerā¦Youāll never go back!
